Mark Angle

Selection prerequisites: Any number of objects including an angle marker, two segments or rays with a common endpoint, three points, or an angle value

The angle value can be an angle parameter, measurement or calculation.

This Transform menu command marks the most recently selected object(s) to determine the angle to be used for future rotations and polar translations.

Use a marked angle for a transformation when you want your transformed image to move as the marked angle changes. When you rotate by 45°, the angle of rotation never changes; but when you rotate by ABC, the rotation changes as the positions of points A, B, and C change.

Mark an Angle Using an Angle Marker

Selection prerequisites: Any number of objects including an angle marker

1.Select or create the desired angle marker.
2.Choose Transform | Mark Angle.

A brief animation confirms that your angle has been marked.

You can also mark an angle after choosing Rotate or Translate. With the dialog box open, click an angle marker in your sketch.
Mark an Angle Using Two Segments or Rays

Selection prerequisites: Any number of objects including two segments or rays with a common endpoint

1.Select two segments or rays with a common endpoint to define your angle. You may also select the common endpoint (the vertex of the angle).

A selection rectangle is an easy way to select these objects.

2.Choose Transform | Mark Angle.

A brief animation confirms that your angle has been marked.
Mark an Angle Using Three Points

Selection prerequisites: Any number of objects including three points

1.Select three points to define your angle. To define an angle by three points, select a point on the initial side, then the vertex, and then a point on the terminal side. For instance, if you select three points shown here in the order A, B, C, the result will be a marked angle that specifies the counter-clockwise rotation shown by the arrow.
2.Choose Transform | Mark Angle.

A brief animation confirms that your angle has been marked.
Mark an Angle Using an Angle Value

Selection prerequisites: Any number of objects including an angle value

1.Select an angle measurement, parameter, or calculation to define your angle. The units must be either degrees or radians.
2.Choose Transform | Mark Angle.

The selection will flash briefly to confirm that your angle measurement, parameter, or calculation has been marked.

You can also mark an angle after choosing Rotate or Translate. With the dialog box open, click an angle value in your sketch.
